The BOUNCE Approach®
O - Openness
Openness to Trust & Connection
Where healing happens.
Some children keep every adult at arm’s length. They test the relationship, push away the person they most need, or seem determined to prove that no one will stay. This isn’t rejection – it’s protection. A nervous system that has learned relationships aren’t safe cannot simply be told otherwise.
That’s what this pillar is about. Trust isn’t a choice a child makes; it’s a felt state their body arrives at – slowly, through predictability, warmth, and repair after rupture. Connection isn’t a reward for good behaviour. It’s the foundation regulation is built on. Your steady, attuned presence is the intervention.
Below you’ll find courses and resources to support this area – helping you build relational safety over time, understand pushing-away as protection rather than rejection, and become the relationship that changes things.
