🌱 Pause. Exploring ‘poor behaviour’ through a BOUNCE® lens
As a BOUNCE® practitioner, you’re not here to manage behaviour — you’re here to understand it.
Behaviour is rarely the problem.
It’s information about what’s happening in the child’s body 🧠, emotions 💛, and sense of safety 🤝.
Before choosing an activity, pause and ask:
- Body 🧘 – Is the nervous system regulated enough to engage?
- Openness 🔓 – Does the child feel safe, or are they protecting themselves?
- Understanding sensory differences 👂👀 – Is something overwhelming or missing?
- Navigating emotions 💭 – Are feelings present but hard to name or contain?
- Connection 🤝 – Is the child needing attunement, not instruction?
- Esteem 🌟 – Is shame, fear of failure, or self-criticism driving this response?
Your role is not to fix the behaviour —
it’s to match the support to what the behaviour is communicating.
Start with curiosity 🌿
Then choose the intervention that meets the child where they are right now.
