Welcome to the Sensory Differences – Assessment of Need

This resource has been developed to help you recognise and respond to sensory processing differences in children in a clear and practical way.

At the heart of this toolkit is a Sensory Differences Checklist (provided in Excel format), which helps you identify patterns of sensory need across various sensory systems – including touch, sound, movement, body awareness, internal cues, vision, taste and smell.

Once completed, the checklist allows you to reflect on the child’s sensory profile and use this information to put in place reasonable adjustments that are tailored to their needs – at home, in school, or in the wider community.

While this isn’t a formal training course, I’ve included additional links and pointers to further reading and relevant CPD opportunities to support your continued learning if desired.
