An adaptable, neurodivergent-affirming resource pack that helps educators understand how executive function challenges show up in the classroom — and respond in ways that reduce barriers rather than increase them.


Executive function difficulties are frequently misread in education settings — mistaken for defiance, lack of effort, or emotional outbursts when what’s actually happening is cognitive overload, sensory processing challenges, or a mismatch between conventional learning environments and a child’s individual processing needs. This resource pack helps educators see the difference, and respond accordingly.

Designed for specialist provisions, SEN settings, home education, and inclusive mainstream classrooms, the pack includes metaphor-based visual aids that make executive function challenges easier to recognise, communicate, and support — helping children feel seen and understood rather than corrected, and building the self-awareness and self-advocacy skills they need to navigate learning on their own terms.
