Supporting Autistic Students in the Classroom
A free, CPD-certified training covering sensory differences, communication needs, and executive function — with clear, flexible strategies to help autistic learners feel safe, included, and able to bring their full selves to learning.
Most classrooms weren’t built with autistic nervous systems in mind — and that’s where the difficulty begins. Fluorescent lights, unpredictable transitions, verbal-heavy instructions, social expectations that shift by the minute: for an autistic learner, an ordinary school day can demand an extraordinary amount from the nervous system. By the time it shows up as behaviour, refusal, or withdrawal, the child has usually been holding it together for hours.
Built around the lived experience of autistic learners, this training covers three key areas — sensory differences, communication needs, and executive function — translating each into practical classroom strategies that foster safety, inclusion, and confidence. The goal isn’t to make autistic children fit traditional classrooms more comfortably. It’s to help you adapt the classroom so they can thrive in it.
Designed for classroom teachers, teaching assistants, SENCOs, pastoral leads, and support staff across primary, secondary, and post-16 settings. No prior autism knowledge required — particularly valuable for whole-school CPD and settings building more inclusive practice from the ground up.
