Creative and Expressive Arts
Explore how art, movement, rhythm, and storytelling can support children who struggle with emotional regulation, trauma, or verbal expression — with process always over product.
Some children can’t tell you what they feel — but they can show you. This training explores how creative and expressive arts can be used as a powerful tool to support children who struggle with emotional regulation, trauma, or verbal expression. The focus is on process over product — using art, movement, rhythm, and storytelling to support co-regulation, attachment, and emotional awareness.
You’ll explore how trauma — both Big T and Little T — is held in the body, and how expressive approaches including bilateral movement, soft-dough play, music, and metaphor can help children access and process their internal experiences safely. Rooted in neuroscience and Polyvagal Theory, and aligned with The BOUNCE Approach®, this training shows how glimmers, rhythm, and sensory safety create the conditions for genuine emotional expression.
Practical and adaptable — designed for anyone working directly with children, even if you don’t see yourself as creative. Includes guidance on structuring expressive arts sessions that support regulation, storytelling, and emotional insight.
Three bonus resources to deepen your practice.
A structured snapshot to identify where a child may be struggling on the inside while appearing fine on the outside — so you can see beneath the surface and respond to what is actually there.
Track entry to exit progress and evidence what has changed across the review period — giving you a clear picture of impact over time.
Understand the nervous system foundations behind regulation, emotional expression, and connection — so you can apply them with confidence in your sessions.
