Welcome to Drawing Feelings

The Drawing Feelings method offers a gentle approach to exploring and understanding emotions through colour and drawings. This technique is designed to help children and young people express and process their feelings in a supportive and creative environment.

What is the Drawing Feelings Method?

  • Art-Based Exploration: Participants use drawing to represent their emotions, including both primary feelings and their opposites. This visual approach helps articulate emotions that might be difficult to express with words.
  • Guided Imagery and Visualisation: Each session starts with guided imagery and visualisation exercises, which help participants establish a calm and secure space for exploration.
  • Expanded Emotional Vocabulary: Emotion cards and wheels are introduced to aid participants in identifying and naming a broad spectrum of feelings, enriching their emotional vocabulary.
  • Physical Sensation Awareness: Physical sensation cards are used to connect emotions with bodily experiences, allowing participants to gain insight into how their feelings are experienced physically.
  • Grounding Techniques: Participants engage in grounding exercises to enhance their emotional awareness and ensure a balanced connection between mind and body.
