Welcome to the BOUNCE Scale
Did you know that you can map out your own nervous system? This revelation is exactly what Dr. Porges did with the Polyvagal Theory! By creating this theory, he aimed to help us understand how to shift between the states of our nervous system. This understanding allows us to feel more mindful, grounded, and happy throughout the day. Moreover, the more we practice shifting and regulating back to calm, the more resilient we become.
Understanding and managing emotions can be challenging for children, especially those who struggle to verbalise their feelings. However, the Bounce Emotional Scale offers a visual and effective solution. By providing these children with a way to visually represent their internal states, the scale breaks down these states into the Polyvagal-informed States of:
- Calm
- Fizzy
- Wobbly
- Angry
- Sad
This pack contains:
- Number Strips (horizontal and vertical)
- Incremental Number Strips
- Word Strips (horizontal and vertical)
- Bounce Character Strips (horizontal and vertical)

The Positive Impact of Using the Bounce Emotional Scale for Children
The resource pack aims to provide children who struggle with verbalizing their emotions with a visual representation of their internal states. Drawing on the Polyvagal Theory by Dr. Porges, it offers tools like Number Strips, Word Strips, fun Bounce Character Strips, Fans, and Flash Cards. These resources help enhance emotional awareness, facilitate non-verbal emotional expression, support emotional regulation, offer consistent visual cues, encourage mindfulness and grounding, and build resilience.
