What is a Mind-Body Programme?

A mind-body programme is a extremely effective person-centred approach for anyone struggling with anxiety and can’t talk about it.  Or talk therapy isn’t working, because they can’t engage.

It is very effective for children that need another way – a way to control the physical overwhelm of emotions.

As with Drawing & Talking – it is intended to complement rather than replace the work of CAMHS, art or other specialist therapists; enabling children who would otherwise go untreated to get the help they need before problems become entrenched.

What do Sessions Look Like?

Work with the child is very much based on their individual needs.  The pace is adapted throughout the session into bite-sized chunks – which is why, this approach is very effective for neuro-divergent children.  Not all children are able to ‘talk through’ their anxieties – however, they can process and manage them through co-regulation and self-regulating strategies.

These strategies include: 

  • Applied Relaxation Technique/Progressive Muscle Relaxation
  • Guided Visualisations & Meditation
  • Deep Breath-work Techniques
  • Guided Reflexology
  • Therapeutic Artwork
  • Therapeutic Sand-tray Work
  • Bilateral Integration
  • Therapeutic Stories
  • Emotional Freedom Technique

Once the 6-week programme is complete, the child feels empowered to regulate their own emotional needs using the techniques and toolkit of resources provided.

How Much are the Sessions?

Costs are dependent on times, evenings and weekend slots are charged at a different rate:

  • Initial 30 Minute Consultation: £15+
  • Session:  £45+
  • Duration:  45-50 minutes
  • Programme:   6+ Sessions
  • Booking:  Book 1 Session per Week

Costs include resources to use at home, such as bespoke meditations, visualisations, relaxing music, and tapping sequences.
