Transform Lives with Tree of Life Intervention Training

Tree of Life Intervention Training, inspired by the work of Ncube (2006, 2017), is an innovative approach grounded in Narrative Therapy. This training uses the powerful metaphor of a tree to help children and young people creatively and safely tell their stories.

By employing the tree metaphor, children can illustrate their lives: the roots represent their history, culture, and background, while the trunk signifies their skills and abilities. The leaves symbolise significant people and animals in their lives, the branches depict their hopes and dreams, and the fruit represents what they have given and received.

Furthermore, this method provides an opportunity for children to share their stories with others, reflecting on the ‘storms’ that impact their lives and exploring how they can ‘weather’ these challenges using available resources, symbolized by insects and woodland animals.

Our comprehensive training session delves into the theory behind the Tree of Life approach, supported by research validating its effectiveness. Participants will learn how to implement this intervention both one-on-one and in small group settings, enhancing their ability to support children’s emotional and psychological well-being.
