Outline:
Welcome to the Calming Mat and Visual Cards resource pack. These cards have been created, to provide easy to use printable resources for facilitators to use to support children that need physical and mental coping strategies to deal with an overwhelm of emotions. They are a perfect addition to any behaviour intervention. There are two versions included – photographic images and Widgits.
Objectives:
- To identify self-soothing strategies that reduce emotional overwhelm
- To empower the child to feel in control over their emotions
- To provide a visual representation of calming strategies – to promote independence
