Social Skills Practitioner Training 

This course aims to provide the facilitator with knowledge, understanding and skills to run their own 6-week+, Play-based Social Skill Intervention. It has the flexibility to be delivered one-to-one or with small groups. Ideal for children that has specific ECHP objectives. It can be used with Play-doh ®, Lego ® and small world items. It needs to have that flexibility, to reduce cost and improve engagement. Not everyone loves Lego!

Course Outline:

  • Understand the fundamental building blocks of child development
  • Review the impact of poor social skills on mental health
  • Explore how structured Play-based Sessions can help build skills
  • Review a structured Play-based Session – from the viewpoint of areas of need
  • Explore the stages of a 1 hour Play-based Session
  • Discuss practical considerations

This Play-based Intervention, is ideal for children with difficulties in:

  • Social communication – verbal/non-verbal
  • Attention and Listening
  • Peer interaction
  • Problem solving
  • Understanding of question words
  • Friendships
