Things to Know

Description

Welcome to the Emotion Image Pack

Photographs of emotions aid children in understanding feelings by offering visual representations, fostering empathy, and providing concrete examples, enabling better recognition and expression of various emotions.

This resource pack is a great addition to any setting looking to implement the Bounce Approach.  The photographs used link directly to the emotional scale – linking to each of the Bounce Characters.

How to use the pack:

  • Print off and laminate (for durability)
  • Use as part of a display – ideal for small pockets, so that the child can associate themselves with the person in the photograph
  • Use in an intervention – great for:
    • Grouping
    • Naming
    • Visual cues
    • Body language of emotions

Objectives

Objectives:

  • To help children recognise and understand different emotions by associating facial expressions with specific feelings.
  • To expand a child’s vocabulary related to emotions by linking visual cues (photographs) to emotional states.
  • To encourage empathy by connecting with and understanding others’ emotions through visual representation.
  • To build self-awareness and reflection by using photographs as references to identify personal feelings and experiences.

I attended the online Lego Feelings Therapy course with Tracy. It was very informative of the benefits of this type of therapy and how to use it with young people as an alternative to talking therapy. As a Pastoral Support worker, supporting young people with their mental health and emotional regulation, this was an invaluable piece of training to add a different cog to the therapy experience and act as a hook for those interested in Lego, or that find talking about their emotions directly quite difficult. Tracy was warm, friendly and personable. Thank you.
