The great thing about bespoke training – is that you can mix and match the learning objectives to your individual setting.

So, how does it work?  Simple:

  • Step 1:  Review the learning objectives outlined below, and select those that meet your needs.  These might be one particular area – or a mixture of a few different ones.
  • Step 2:  Book a free consultation and together, we can create a training package bespoke to your setting
  • Step 3:  The training package is delivered.  For the option of remote training – a recording will be available to watch again over a 6-week period.  Ideal, for new staff or fitting it around a busy staff timetable!

B1: Implementing a Play-based Therapeutic Intervention

This intervention is focused on improving a child’s social and emotional development.  It would be used as a short-term, high impact provision for a child struggling with their social and emotional skills.

Intervention Suitability:  KS1/2

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the fundamental building blocks of child development
  • Review the impact of poor social skills on mental health
  • Explore the assessment of need and impact of an intervention
  • Explore how structured play-based sessions can help build skills

B2: IMPROVING ‘ATTACHMENT’ THROUGH PLAY-BASED INTERACTIONS

This training has been created, to provide an insight into what ‘attachment’ is and how we can facilitate opportunities for the child to form secure attachments with others, via play-based interactions.

Suitability:  KS1/2/3

Learning Outcomes:

  • Why are early attachment opportunities important?
  • What are the attachment styles we grow up with?
  • Why understanding neuro-science is important in building strong attachments with others
  • How can we used attachment-focused play to support children in building trusted relationships with others?
  • How do we create a circle of trust in a attachment-based play session?
  • Which type of play should be used – based on their attachment neds? #casestudy

B3: EXPLORING EMOTIONS THROUGH ART

This training is aimed at parents and professionals looking for a creative way to support the emotional needs of a child.  It’s a perfect platform for an intervention – as the ideas can be used to create a 6-week programme.  Not all children can, or want, to talk about how they feel – however, through art, they can express it!  We will explore many different types of approaches – looking at why they are effective and how to run a session using that creative medium.

Suitability:  KS1/2/3

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understanding the brain and how it’s activated into different emotions
  • Why is art such a powerful form of expression?
  • How can we support them to explore their emotions using art?

Duration of Training:  1hr

B4: EXPLORING EMOTIONS THROUGH MUSIC

This training is aimed at parents or professionals looking for an effective way of helping children recognise, label, and regulate their emotions through music.  You don’t need access to instruments – as the suggestions are classical tracks.

Suitability:  KS1

Objectives:

  • To understand how music evokes an emotion
  • To understand how to link this emotion to the Bounce Scale
  • To understand how to regulate emotions through music
  • To understand how to use beats to support a meditative/calm state

Duration of Training:  1hr

B5: EMOTIONS & THE POLYVAGAL THEORY

This training has been created, to provide parents and professionals with an insight into why a child maybe struggling emotionally.

It pulls on neuroscience, so that you walk away with a greater understanding, more empathy – and a toolkit of ideas to support them!

Suitability:  KS1/2

Objectives of the Training:

  • Why do we need to understand Neuro-science?
  • What is the Polyvagal Theory?
  • What is ‘Emotional Regulation’?
  • How can we support children in regulating themselves emotionally?

Duration of Training:  1hr

B6: HOW DO YOU REGULATE EMOTIONS?

This training is a mixture of knowledge, with practical techniques and take home prompt cards. We will be doing these techniques together in a fun, creative way. At the end of the session – you will have prompt cards and guided video tutorials, to remind you of the techniques, so you can apply them straight away!

Suitability:  KS1/2/3

Objectives of the training:

  • To understand the neuroscience behind emotions
  • To explore how to regulate these emotions through a 3-step process
  • To review the various techniques to calm the nervous system

B7: HOW CAN WE BUILD EMOTIONAL RESILIENCE?

This training is aimed at parents and professionals looking to understand how to support the emotional resilience of children.

Suitability:  KS1/2

Objectives of the training:

  • How do early life experiences impact on our ability to cope with emotions? #attachment #conditioning
  • How do we re-wire negative patterns of behaviour?
  • What techniques can we use to build emotional resilience? #somatic #emotionalintelligence #selfbelief

B8: HOW DO YOU MANAGE CHALLENGING BEHAVIOUR?

This training is aimed at parents and professionals looking to understand why some children struggle with their emotions, to the point that they become aggressive – towards themselves and others.  It will un-pick the reasons behind emotional overwhelm and explore what can be put in place to reduce triggers and outbursts.

Suitability:  KS1/2

Objectives of the training:

  • What is behind a child’s challenging behaviours – from a biological point of view
  • Internal and external triggers that could be causing the aggressive outbursts
  • How to reduce these triggers – in a systematic and methodical way
  • Effective techniques of co-regulation, to de-escalate conflict

Duration of the Training: 1.5 hrs

B9: HOW DO WE DE-ESCALATE CHALLENGING BEHAVIOUR?

This training is aimed at families and professionals looking at how they can support children that struggle with their emotions at home and in school.  It is a solution-focused approach to de-escalation, that looks at the whole child.

Suitability:  KS1/2

Objectives of the training:

  • Understand why a child may struggle with their emotions
  • Understand of how the nervous system impacts on their system
  • Explore the need to understand non-verbal communication
  • Explore social-emotional development in children
  • Understand the 5 Steps to De-escalating challenging situations

B10: HOW CAN WE SUPPORT AUTISTIC CHILDREN IN THE CLASSROOM?

This training is aimed at education professionals looking at effective ways of reducing barriers for autistic children in schools.

Suitability:  KS1/2/3

Objectives of the Training:

  • The Ofsted Framework and how it supports autistic children in schools
  • The Teachers’ Standards and how it relates to supporting autistic children in the classroom
  • Autistic barriers in education settings
  • How to reduce these barriers – to enable autistic children access a life-long skills
  • The importance of a collaborative approach and what that looks like on a day to day basis

B11: HOW CAN WE SUPPORT ADHD CHILDREN?

This training is aimed at parents and professionals looking to understand how to support the educational needs of a child with an ADHD/ADD profile.

Objectives of the training:

  • What is ADHD and what isn’t it?
  • What are the different types of ADHD?
  • What is happening in the ADHD brain?
  • What is the link between ADHD and Executive Functions?
  • What are the brains Executive Functions?
  • How can we improve Executive Functions?
  • What does a Successful Learning Environment look like?

B12: HOW DO WE SUPPORT CHILDREN WITH A PDA PROFILE?

This training is aimed at families and professionals looking at how they can support children that demonstrate demand avoidant behaviours – including children with a PDA Profile (Pathological Demand Avoidance).  It is a solution-focused approach that looks at the whole child.

Suitability:  KS1/2

Objectives of the Training:

  • Difference between challenging behaviour and anxiety
  • Explore individualised approaches to managing children with demand avoidance
  • Flow of the day – on a child’s ability to cope with their emotions
  • Explore practical techniques to manage emotions

B13: An Introduction to Restorative Practice in School

This training grounds participants in the principles of Restorative Practice within schools to support all learners. The aim of Restorative Practice is to alleviate problems such as bullying, poor behaviour within the classroom, low attendance, anti-social behaviour, and disputes between students.

Learning Outcomes:

  • What is the traditional approach to Behaviour Management? #Teachers’ Standards
  • What is Restorative Justice and How does it Differ from Traditional Approaches?
  • What is the problem with ‘Punishment’? Let’s explore the Neuroscience!

HOW WILL IT BE RUN?

Training can be delivered face-to-face, or remotely.  It would be expected that any training resources for live sessions, that accompany the training, are printed by the setting.

WHAT ARE THE COSTS?

Remote training and professional coaching sessions are:

  • 30 mins – £75
  • 1hr – £150
  • 2hrs – £300
  • 3hrs – £450

Face-to-face training is a combination of the cost, outlined above, and travel expenses.
